Preemie Quilt 2013

This year's quilt is a quilt-along, rather than a mystery.  Since this pattern works best with a good variety of fabrics we will start by swapping some 2" strips.  Here is how to join in.

Basket Weave Baby Quilt

Step One:  Strip Swap

Bring eight Swap Packages to the next meeting.

Each Package should contain four 2” strips, half width of fabric (about 21” long).  There should be two light strips and two dark strips in each package.  Snack-sized Ziploc bags work well for this.

You can use any fabrics or leftover strips for this swap, but the simplest way to prepare the packages  is to begin with four Fat Quarters, two light, two dark.  Stack them.  Cut 2” strips.  Put one stack into each bag.  You can get 9 (or even 10) strips from a fat quarter – keep the extras for your own quilt.

Extra:
As you prepare your packages see if you can gather up a few more strips.  Two inches wide, any length up to 21", lights and darks.  Bring along 6 or 7 extra strips to the meeting and we will put them to good use.
